Dracula Weekly: 4
In which we discover Cowboys? In my Vampire Novel? (It's more likely than you think)
Hello! Editor Matt here
; this is Dracula Weekly, Week 4. Thank you again for supporting this project!
Let’s get to it.
RECAP
May 20-23. Nothing! We don’t hear from any of our correspondents.
May 24. Lucy replies to Mina’s letter, with an eventful day that includes three proposals. First up is Jack Seward (he of the aforementioned immense asylum), who proposes while being so nervous he nearly sits on his hat. He also toys with a lancet*, a medical tool used for making small punctures, typically to draw blood. His proposal is not successful. Next on the stage is Mr. Quincey P. Morris, an American cowboy from Texas, who speaks in absurd but delightful slang. Lucy also turns him down gracefully, while admitting there is someone else she loves. End of letter. Oh, and a PS, wherein Lucy says he has accepted Number Three.
* Pro tip: if Stoker uses a word you don’t know, it’s probably because he’s FORESHADOWING.
